How to Verify Your PayPal Account

While you don't always have to have a verified PayPal for work at home companies to let you get paid, it's a good idea to do it anyway. It's easy, and all you need is a PayPal account and either a major credit card or a bank account (prepaid cards that provide a routing number and an account number are fine). Follow these steps to get your verified PayPal up and running.

You're going to have to do this from the website; the mobile app doesn't have the capability to verify accounts.

1. In your web browser, go to https://www.paypal.com/. If you're not automatically logged in, click "Log In" in the upper right-hand corner and enter your credentials.

2. Click the "Summary" option in the upper left-hand corner. If you're accessing the browser from a mobile device and don't see a "Summary," click the "Menu" option in the upper left-hand corner.

3. Scroll down until you see "See how much you can send with PayPal" in the "More About your Account" section, then click on it.

4. There will be a "Get Verified" button for you to click. You may have to click through the account limits section to get to it. If that's the case, click on "Lift Limits" and proceed to the verification process.

5. Follow all of the steps onscreen to get your account verified. If you are in the United States, you must complete two out of three of the following:
  • Provide your bank's routing and account number. If instant linking isn't available for your bank (which is generally the case if your bank isn't on the list of clickable banks at the start of the process), PayPal will make and retrieve two small deposits within 2-3 business days. Once you receive the deposits, go back and enter the amounts in your PayPal verification screen.
  • Provide and link a debit or credit card number, with the correct expiry date, billing address, and CVV code. PayPal will initiate a transaction in one or two business days that will have a code contained in the transaction description; verify the code on your PayPal verification screen
  • Provide your Social Security Number.
The verification process for Business accounts is slightly different; that will be covered in a separate post, along with how to apply for and get a PayPal debit MasterCard.

Verification requirements vary from country to country; please check with PayPal if you have any questions regarding the verification process for your country.

Hustle and Flow

As in side hustle and income flow. It would be awesome beyond words if there were a way to sit back in your pajamas and watch television or play games while money just poured into your bank account. But realistically, that's just not possible unless you start a website called "How to Sit Back in Your Pajamas While Money Pours Into Your Bank Account," then try to scam as many people as possible into sending you $29.99 for some bogus training course that will tell them how to make that happen. Of course, that will never  happen, but there are probably enough people out there with $30 that want it to. I am in no way advocating that. In fact, I believe that is the worst kind of betrayal, taking advantage of people who are honestly looking for a way to get those ends to meet, rather than the ends being perpetual strangers. Unfortunately, there are thousands of sites like that, and trying to find a legitimate way to earn money from home, either as a side hustle or a ful...
